APR•St Tammany is adding a new community tool designed to help quickly spread verified information when someone goes missing.

The new Missing Persons System will be available through the APR•St Tammany iOS app, Android app and website, giving users one central place to view active missing-person reports, search cases and share updates.

The system will separate active reports from cases involving people who have been located and will also allow reports from St. Tammany Parish and surrounding areas to be organized in one place.

Users will be able to privately submit information through the system, while missing-person entries can include details such as the person’s photo, age, last known location, circumstances, physical description and the law-enforcement agency handling the case.

APR will require missing-person submissions to be supported by a police report, case number or other information that allows the details to be verified before publication.

Each published case will also provide options to quickly share the information and, when available, contact the appropriate public case contact or investigating agency.

The goal is simple: make verified missing-person information easier to find, easier to share and available beyond a single social-media post.

APR•St Tammany is not a law-enforcement agency and does not replace contacting police. Anyone with immediate information involving a missing person should contact the appropriate law-enforcement agency, and emergencies should be reported to 911.

The new system is being added as APR continues expanding its community tools beyond social media and into the APR•St Tammany website and mobile apps.
