(August 5, 2026) — A federal search warrant executed Wednesday morning in Slidell led to the discovery of volatile materials inside a duplex, prompting a multi-agency response and the evacuation of the residence.
According to the FBI New Orleans Field Office, the operation began at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, when FBI agents and deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office (STPSO) executed a federal search warrant at a duplex in the 3100 block of City Drive.
The FBI said the investigation stemmed from information provided by the St. Tammany Parish Narcotics Unit.
During the execution of the warrant, authorities located what the FBI described as volatile materials inside the residence. As a precaution, the duplex was evacuated while bomb technicians worked to secure the scene.
One individual has been taken into custody and is reportedly cooperating with investigators.
The residence is located near Abney Elementary School. The FBI said school officials, including the principal, were notified due to the proximity of the law enforcement activity.
