A federal immigration officer was arrested Friday morning after the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office says he entered his ex girlfriend’s apartment in the Covington area without permission.
According to STPSO, 58 year old Thomas Bailey of Lecompte was taken into custody following the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office says Bailey is employed with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Oakdale office.
Investigators say the woman was not home when Bailey allegedly entered the apartment.
Bailey was arrested on one count of Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, a violation of Louisiana R.S. 14:62.3.
Sheriff Bret Ibert addressed the arrest in the department’s release, saying the law applies equally regardless of where someone works or what position they hold.
STPSO has not released additional details about how Bailey allegedly entered the apartment or what led investigators to the residence.
Bailey is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
APR•St Tammany will continue to follow this case as more information becomes available.
