(August 6, 2026) — Motorists traveling along Interstate 12 near Exit 68 are experiencing significant slowdowns Thursday afternoon following multiple crashes in both the eastbound and westbound lanes.

The first incident involved a semi-truck that left the roadway in the eastbound lanes, coming to rest in the median. Louisiana State Police responded to the scene, and traffic continues to move through the area at a reduced speed.

A short distance away, a second crash involving multiple vehicles was reported in the westbound lanes. Emergency responders were also dispatched to that incident, further contributing to traffic congestion in both directions.

As of this report, traffic remains backed up but is still moving slowly. The cause of the crashes and whether there were any injuries have not yet been confirmed.

Drivers are urged to use caution when approaching the area, slow down, avoid distracted driving, and move over for emergency vehicles and first responders working along the interstate.

APR•St Tammany is continuing to monitor both incidents and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
