(August 4, 2026) — Pearl River Mayor Joe D. Lee announced today that he will not seek re-election, bringing to a close five years of service leading the Town of Pearl River.
In a letter addressed to residents, Lee said the decision came after prayer, reflection, and discussions with his family. He cited the desire to spend more time with loved ones, especially as he and his wife prepare to welcome their first grandchild in the coming weeks.
During his announcement, Lee reflected on several accomplishments during his administration, including:
• Investments in the town’s sewer and water infrastructure.
• Progress on drainage projects, including Calhoun Street and Holmes Street.
• Improvements to the Pearl River Town Park, including the addition of a splash pad and upcoming new restroom facilities.
• Continued residential and business growth throughout the community.
Lee thanked town employees, volunteers, first responders, local businesses, and residents for their support throughout his time in office, saying the achievements were the result of a community working together.
Looking ahead to the upcoming municipal election, Lee encouraged voters to carefully research each candidate, ask questions, seek factual information, and make informed decisions.
Although stepping away from public office, Lee said he looks forward to remaining an active member of the Pearl River community.
