St. Tammany Parish sheriff candidate Daniel Seuzeneau is speaking publicly after learning he has been named in a lawsuit involving a public records request to the Slidell Police Department, just days before early voting begins.

In a video released Friday, Seuzeneau identified attorney Dominick Latino of Column Law Firm as the attorney behind the lawsuit, which he says involves a request for approximately 20 years of his employment records.

The requested documents reportedly include personnel files, disciplinary records, training certifications, compensation, outside employment, vehicle purchases and departmental communications.

Seuzeneau, who says he resigned from the department in July to pursue his campaign for sheriff, questioned why he was personally included in the lawsuit.

He also disputed the claim that the department has failed to provide the requested information.

According to Seuzeneau, the Slidell city attorney told him the documents were already available through the city’s public records portal, pending payment of applicable fees.

Rather than limiting access to those records, Seuzeneau announced that he intends to publish the documents on his campaign website for the public to review, provided he is legally entitled to release them.

He also defended his 20 year career with the Slidell Police Department, stating that he has no disciplinary history and that departmental vehicle purchases were conducted through established purchasing programs.

Seuzeneau questioned the timing of the lawsuit and raised concerns about possible political motivations. However, he acknowledged having no evidence identifying another campaign or political organization as responsible.

The candidate maintained that his record should speak for itself and encouraged the public to examine the documents and reach their own conclusions.

APR•St. Tammany has not independently confirmed the lawsuit’s allegations or whether the requested documents have been made available through the city’s records portal.

Early voting begins October 20 for the November 3 election.
