When a candidate uses their campaign page to publicly share a position, the community has every right to respond, whether those responses are supportive or critical.
If the reaction becomes overwhelmingly critical and the response is to shut down the conversation by turning off comments, voters can decide for themselves what that says about the candidate’s approach to public feedback.
Leadership does not mean everyone agrees with you. It means being willing to hear from the people you are asking to represent, including when they tell you something you do not want to hear.
Campaign season is often the easiest time for candidates to listen. The public should pay attention to how they handle disagreement now, because communication and accountability do not become less important after Election Day.
