St. Tammany Fire District #12 is mourning the loss of one of its own, Operator Nikkolas Hurd.
The department announced Hurd’s passing Thursday morning, remembering him for the time, energy and service he dedicated to the department and the community.
“Nikk” was described by Fire District 12 as more than a member of the department. He was a friend, brother, son and valued member of the fire department family.
“We are heartbroken by this loss,” the department wrote while extending condolences to Hurd’s family, loved ones, friends and everyone who served alongside him.
Fire District 12 is asking the community to keep Hurd’s family, friends and fellow firefighters in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
