St. Tammany Parish Public Schools is expanding a workforce training partnership that will give high school students age 16 and older an opportunity to receive tuition free welding training.

The program is being offered through a partnership between STPPS, the Associated Builders and Contractors New Orleans/Bayou Chapter, and EXCEL USA.

Students will receive hands on welding training while working toward an industry based credential.

Classes begin Wednesday, September 30 and will be held every Wednesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Fontainebleau High School.

Students interested in participating can pick up an application from their school’s front office.

A mandatory parent meeting will be held Wednesday, September 23 at 6 p.m. in the Fontainebleau High School Library. Completed applications must be submitted at that meeting.

Students and families with questions are encouraged to contact their school’s School to Work Coordinator.

This is a great opportunity for local students interested in learning a skilled trade while still in high school. St. Tammany Parish Public School System
