A Slidell area drug search led to the arrests of three women and the removal of a child from the home, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.
The arrests occurred Monday, October 19. Sheriff’s narcotics detectives obtained arrest warrants for Ashlyn George, 35, and a warrant to search her home following an investigation that began earlier this month. Slidell Police Department detectives assisted.
Investigators said they found George, Olivia Barrentine, 24, of Covington, and Morgan Clay, 27, of Mandeville, inside the home with several juveniles. All three women were booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
George was booked on two counts of distributing fentanyl and two counts of cruelty to juveniles. Her other charges include possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, Adderall and Suboxone, along with transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Barrentine and Clay were each booked on charges of possessing methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.
Detectives reported seizing 45 grams of methamphetamine, 30 grams of marijuana, more than 6 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and 14 grams of synthetic marijuana. The agency also listed fentanyl, Adderall pills, 27 Suboxone film strips, cash and drug paraphernalia among the items recovered.
The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services responded to the home and took custody of one child, the sheriff’s office said. Other juveniles were released to their guardians.
The charges are allegations. The women are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
