NHC Monitoring Low Development Chance in the Gulf
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of disturbed weather in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico for possible tropical or subtropical development.
According to the NHC’s Friday morning outlook, a low-pressure system could form this weekend and move slowly near the northeastern Gulf, northern Florida or the western Atlantic early next week.
The disturbance currently has a near-zero chance of development during the next 48 hours and a 20% chance during the next seven days. There is no organized storm, official track or immediate tropical threat to St. Tammany Parish at this time.
Residents should continue monitoring updates from NOAA and the National Hurricane Center, as forecasts can change once a defined low-pressure center develops.
APR•St Tammany is not a meteorologist. Weather information is based on official updates from NOAA and the National Hurricane Center.
