ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — September 10, 2026 — September is National Suicide Prevention Month, an important reminder that sometimes the people struggling the most are the ones we least expect.
A friend. A coworker. A neighbor. A first responder. A family member. Maybe even you.
You do not have to face a crisis alone.
The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Anyone experiencing emotional distress, a mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts, or simply needing someone to talk with can call or text 988 to connect with trained crisis counselors.
And checking on someone does not have to be complicated. A simple “Are you okay?” or “Do you want to talk?” can open a conversation someone desperately needs.
APR•St. Tammany encourages our community to look out for one another. Check on your friends. Check on your family. Check on the person who has gotten unusually quiet. And remember that asking for help is okay.
