Take it slow this morning. St. Tammany Parish is under a Dense Fog Advisory until 9 a.m. CDT, with the National Weather Service warning of visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less and hazardous driving conditions.
Slidell Airport reported visibility of just a quarter mile at 6:53 a.m.
Turn on your low beam headlights, make sure your taillights are on, and leave extra distance between vehicles. Avoid high beams, which create glare in the fog. Give yourself additional travel time, and never stop in a traffic lane if you cannot see. Find a safe place completely off the roadway.
Getting there safely matters more than getting there quickly.
