A former employee of Crunch Fitness in Mandeville has been arrested after police say women were secretly photographed while using private tanning rooms inside the gym.

Mandeville Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Nathan Volz, who was booked June 30 on a charge of video voyeurism.

The investigation began after a woman noticed what appeared to be a cellphone recording her from an adjoining tanning room. The incident was reported to gym management and law enforcement, prompting detectives to examine the employee’s electronic devices and determine whether other customers may have been recorded.

Investigators have since identified multiple potential victims. Police believe the number could increase as the examination of the evidence continues and additional women are contacted.

Volz is no longer employed by the Mandeville gym. He posted bond following his arrest, but additional charges remain possible as detectives continue reviewing the case.

Anyone who used the tanning facilities at the Mandeville Crunch Fitness and believes they may have been recorded is encouraged to contact the Mandeville Police Department at 985-626-9711.

The investigation remains active. An arrest is an accusation, and Volz is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
