MANDEVILLE, La. — Mandeville Police say Nathan Volz has been arrested and booked on multiple counts of video voyeurism following an expanded investigation into alleged secret recordings inside private tanning rooms at Crunch Fitness in Mandeville.
Police said the investigation began after an incident in which Volz allegedly used his personal cellphone to record a woman inside a locked tanning room. Investigators allege he positioned himself in an adjacent room and held the phone above the partition wall, which was open near the ceiling for ventilation.
Volz was initially arrested June 30 under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:283, according to police. After detectives seized his phone, they obtained a search warrant and conducted a forensic examination of the device.
Police said that examination revealed recordings of multiple victims made at the Mandeville gym using the same alleged method. Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigative Division then worked to identify the people shown in the recordings.
As the investigation continued, detectives obtained a warrant charging Volz with multiple counts of video voyeurism. Police said Volz was contacted after the warrant was issued and voluntarily surrendered without incident before being booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
The police update did not specify the exact number of counts, the total number of identified victims or the date of the latest booking.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
