SLIDELL, La. (October 19, 2026). An 18 year old has been arrested after a 16 year old was shot in the shoulder while a group was filming videos for social media inside a Slidell residence, police said.
The Slidell Police Department identified the arrested man as Jarvion Evans. Investigators said Evans accidentally discharged a firearm while inside the home off Pontchartrain Drive over the weekend.
The injured teenager was taken to a hospital with injuries police described as not life threatening and is expected to make a full recovery.
Police said Evans left before officers arrived, then contacted the department a short time later to turn himself in. According to the department, he cooperated with investigators and led them to where he had discarded the firearm.
The department said Evans was charged and booked but did not identify the specific charges in its announcement.
Police Chief Tommy Williams urged responsible firearm handling and cautioned against using guns as props for social media videos.
