ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — A Heat Advisory is posted for Monday as dangerous heat and humidity build across St. Tammany Parish, according to the National Weather Service in Slidell.

The NWS forecast for St. Tammany calls for a high near 97 degrees Monday with a heat index as high as 112. An Extreme Heat Watch is also displayed for Tuesday as very hot and mostly dry conditions continue.

Residents should limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, drink water frequently and take breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas. Children and pets should never be left in parked vehicles.

Older adults, young children, people without dependable air conditioning and anyone working outside may face a higher risk of heat illness. Call 911 for suspected heat stroke.
