PICAYUNE, Miss. — Three people, including a 12-year-old child, were injured in a shooting Sunday night in Picayune that has already led to multiple felony charges, with investigators saying additional arrests are expected.
According to the Picayune Police Department, officers responded to reports of multiple shots fired at approximately 10:55 p.m. on July 12, 2026, in the 700 block of South Haugh Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found three gunshot victims:
* Lamar Davon Ankrum suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
* Robert Bailey Sr. with a graze wound to the head.
* A 12-year-old juvenile who was shot in the hip.
Authorities said Ankrum and Bailey Sr. were transported to Highland Community Hospital, where they were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The juvenile was taken to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, and officials also described the child’s injuries as non-life-threatening.
During the investigation, detectives determined the shooting stemmed from an earlier incident in which Robert Bailey Jr. was allegedly assaulted by Lamar Ankrum and two other individuals.
As a result of the investigation:
* Lamar Ankrum, 20, was arrested and charged with:
* Attempted Murder
* Possession of a Stolen Firearm
* Robert Bailey Sr., 48, was arrested and charged with:
* Two counts of Attempted Murder
* One count of Burglary of a Dwelling
Police emphasized that the investigation remains active and said additional arrests are expected as detectives continue gathering evidence.
