The National Hurricane Center is currently watching two areas of disturbed weather in the Atlantic basin for possible tropical development over the next seven days.
One disturbance is located near Florida and the eastern Gulf, while another is farther east across the Caribbean and tropical Atlantic. Both areas are currently shown with a low chance of development, below 40 percent.
For St. Tammany Parish, this is simply something to keep an eye on at this point. There is no reason to panic, and it is far too early to know whether either disturbance will develop or eventually impact Louisiana.
We are entering a busy part of hurricane season, so now is always a good time to make sure your hurricane supplies and plans are ready.
APR•St Tammany will continue watching the tropics and provide updates if anything changes.
