SLIDELL, La. — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman arrested following Sunday night’s pursuit as 26-year-old Savanna Magee of the Destrehan area.

Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Windward Passage after receiving a report that an intoxicated woman was attempting to leave a residence in a vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

As a responding deputy attempted to remove Magee from the vehicle, she allegedly placed it in reverse and struck the deputy while attempting to flee. A brief pursuit followed before the vehicle stopped near Oak Harbor Boulevard and Oak Court, the agency said.

Magee allegedly continued resisting deputies before she was taken into custody. The Sheriff’s Office said she will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on charges of attempted murder of a police officer, unauthorized use of a movable, simple battery, resisting arrest and driving while impaired.

The deputy was treated at the scene for minor injuries and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation as a precaution.

All allegations remain accusations. Magee is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
